Mimi Pollack was born in the United States but moved to Mexico City when she was five. She lived there for over 20 years and worked at Televisa for five years. She moved to San Diego and became an ESL teacher at Grossmont College and San Diego Community College Continuing Education. Besides working with people from Latin America, she worked with students from all over the world. She taught for 35 years before retiring last year.
In 2011, she started working as a freelance writer and writes for various local publications. She also co-founded the Bus Station Project that helps asylum seekers. Finally, she is an avid animal lover.
